Pinterest Predicts
Pinterest Predicts is a not-yet-trending report that shares emerging trends for the coming year. It's your guide to what people will shop, try and buy next. I worked with the Pinterest business team to deliver a new way to explore the trends in a way that appeals to b2b and b2c alike.
The Immersive Grid
Taking a step back, we prototyped a few different interaction models for browsing the different trends. Expandable menus, subnavs, galleries, list views, we tried it all and landed on a hybrid. The landing grid displays all the trends and pans around the grid as you move your cursor. For audiences that need additional search tools we incorporated a filter view that incorporates filters and displays in a linear fashion.
Trend Modals
A core tenet of the design approach was to encourage exploration and the feeling that you are viewing all the content in a space, opposed to jumping from page to page. Once you select a trend, the modal with the key image slides up and blurs the background, leaving the feeling that you haven't left the grid. You can easily click off the modal or scroll off the bottom to exit the trend, or navigate to adjacent trend modals by using the paddle nav at the top.
